Dr. John Hoggard
Dr. John Hoggard grew up in Greenville, North Carolina, and is proud to call Wilmington home. Living near family, the coast, and the community he serves has been a true blessing for him and his family. He is married to Dr. Caroline Hoggard, his dental school sweetheart, and together they share a passion for providing exceptional dentistry in a warm, caring, and family-centered environment.
At Hoggard Family Dentistry, Dr. Hoggard believes patients deserve more than routine dental care. He believes they deserve to feel heard, comfortable, respected, and confident that every recommendation is made with their long-term health in mind. His goal is to build lifelong relationships with patients while helping them understand their oral health, prevent future problems, and maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for life.
Dr. Hoggard is especially passionate about comprehensive, evidence-based dentistry. He is a graduate of the world-renowned Kois Center, one of the most respected advanced dental education programs in the country. Becoming a Kois Center Graduate requires completion of an intensive nine-course curriculum and more than 220 hours of advanced didactic and hands-on continuing education. Through this training, Dr. Hoggard has studied all aspects of modern comprehensive dentistry, including oral health, periodontal treatment, smile design, cosmetic dentistry, whitening, veneers, crowns, full-mouth rehabilitation, dental sleep medicine, implants, dentures, TMD, bite-related problems, and advanced treatment planning.
This advanced training allows Dr. Hoggard to look beyond a single tooth and evaluate the entire mouth, bite, airway, smile, and long-term risk factors. Whether a patient needs a simple filling, cosmetic enhancement, implant restoration, sleep appliance, denture, or a complex full-mouth rehabilitation, his approach is thoughtful, individualized, and focused on predictable, lasting results.
Dr. Hoggard also believes strongly in using the best available digital technology to improve diagnosis, treatment outcomes, efficiency, and patient comfort. As a CEREC Doctors Mentor, he has advanced experience with digital dentistry and enjoys helping other dentists expand their knowledge of same-day dentistry, digital scanning, and modern restorative techniques. By combining advanced training with innovative technology, Dr. Hoggard is able to provide care that is more precise, comfortable, and convenient for his patients.
Patients often appreciate Dr. Hoggard’s calm, compassionate nature and his ability to explain treatment in a way that feels clear and reassuring. He takes pride in creating an office experience where patients feel welcome, never rushed, and confident that they are receiving excellent care from a team that truly cares about them.
When he is away from the office, Dr. Hoggard’s greatest joy is spending time with his wife, Caroline, and their three children. He also enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, surfing, kiteboarding, boating, and time on the water with family and friends.

Caroline Hoggard
Dr. Caroline Hoggard is thrilled to practice alongside her husband and dental school sweetheart, Dr. John Hoggard. A native of North Carolina raised in Hickory, she is proud to call Wilmington home and truly loves treating her patients like an extension of her own family. Building deep, lasting patient relationships is at the heart of her approach to dental care, where she strives to create an environment where patients never feel rushed and always feel heard.
Following dental school, Dr. Caroline completed a rigorous one-year residency program to advance her training in treating complex cases. In addition to general dentistry, she is deeply passionate about dental sleep medicine and treating sleep apnea, helping patients achieve better health through restful sleep. Dr. Caroline also believes strongly in utilizing the latest digital technology to improve patient comfort and efficiency. She utilizes advanced digital scanning and modern restorative techniques, including same-day CEREC crowns, to make care precise, convenient, and comfortable.
Outside of the office, Dr. Caroline’s world revolves around her busy family. Over the last couple of years, she and Dr. John have loved the unique joy of working together as a team while raising their three beautiful children—two girls and a boy. When she isn’t at the practice, you can find her working out and staying active, spending quality time with her family and their rescue cat, Coco, heading to the beach, and enjoying everything their wonderful local town has to offer.
